it is going to be difficult to get a laptop under 1200 that will run cad programs. i would suggest building your own. try tigerdirect.com and newegg.com and go from there. you will save hundreds.
but a dual core processor would be optimal, video cards dont matter as much, but RAM is very important, i suggest 3+ GB
Toshiba laptops…with 3GB ram and 250GB hard-drive….cheap about $900.
pretty much any modern Core2Duo processor will handle CAD work … what you need to do is Max out your Ram …. 4GB is pretty standard these days … 32Bit OS will only see about 3.25 … but the more you got the better
