    CAD can build a 3D model and see it before any expenses are made. It helps to share vision of one’s imagination, creativeness, ideas. CAD enables you to see the future results.

    I’m not an architect but that’s my guess.

    i am an architecture student, and i can tell you that CAD & CAAD can make life easier. it is necessary though to have learned the basics of hand-drafting and model making in order to use the computer programs properly. the most useful application of the computer is BIM (Building Information Modeling). programs like Revit, ArchiCAD, and to some extent AutoCAD allow architects to draw buildings in both 3D and 2D simultaneously. this makes the design process much easier because you can design on multiple levels and see immediately how it will affect the form of a building. 3D modeling also allows the designer to walk through the building to get a somewhat realistic feel of the space.
