What is a good laptop for a college bound student?
britt_m_89 asked:
I’m going to be going into computer-aided drafting and design at the college I’m going to be attending. I would like a laptop that has a lot of memory, windows vista, and I want one with a CD and DVD burner.

The new Dell 1420 would be an excellent fit. It can be had with most of the top options.
A Bargain Hunter’s Fantasy Laptop (Inspiron 1420 Review from PCMag.com - 6/26/2007)
The Dell Inspiron 1420 is destined to populate the homes of school-bound teens, sophisticated and unsophisticated computer users, and just about anybody who is looking for a terrific deal. The laptop’s look has changed (for the better), and just because it’s priced at $1,099 (direct) doesn’t mean you’ll get shafted with cheap processing parts. It’s one of the few laptops, if not the only one, that gives you discrete graphics, a surplus of memory, different-color frames, and a host of other features that usually cost extra.
I know the change from vista to OSX might seem like it will take forever but i promise you’ll catch on in the first week!
Get a MacBook Pro…. they are not just shiny on the outside, they shine on the inside too and i can tell you that they are soooo much more dependable than som crappy pc. If the price of a MacBook Pro seems too much for a college student consider this, When you buy a Mac your not making an investment that will last 2 or 3 years, it will last triple that if you take care of it. Mac’s are built better and will follow you through college and beyond, rathar than quit on you halfway through. Go and Get a MacBook Pro
