Can a 32 bit software work in a 64 bit computer?
david lee asked:
I have Auto Cad 2006 (32 bit) and tried to load it in my new 64 bit computer. The computer loads it but when I try to use it , it will not work. It says there is an error during installation. Is the a way to convert the computer to accept the software?

Hi,
64 bit OS will open 32 bit applications.
Proabbly what you need to do is to run your AutoCad in compatability mode.

64bit OS should run any 32bit software. It is likely that some files did not copy correctly during installation. Try uninstalling and, reinstalling the program. If you downloaded the program or, used ISO software to burn a disk this is probably where the error occurred.
In order to run 32-bit applications with 64-bit CPU, you’ll need a CPU that’s backward compatible with 32-bit. Nowadays, most of the 64-bit CPUs are backward compatible.
Since you are able to load the files, it means that your 64-bit CPU is backward compatible with 32-bit applications.
An error during installation usually indicates corrupt files, but not always.
You’ll need to be more specific about what errors you are getting.
I use AutoCAD on a daily bases.
