What should I expect from Graphic Design Class?

mase00022 asked:

I am highly considering taking a graphics design class this upcoming semester at my college. I like to mess around and make images with photoshop and it would be great to learn more about it. So I am thinking about taking “Introduction to Graphics Design”. What should I expect? Will we be working on computers the whole time or will there be more drawing in this class? I read the course description, but it was quite vague. I am a mediocre artist, but like I said I would really enjoy making/editing pictures on the computer. Would I be better off with this or “Computer aided draft/design”??? Thanks!

Who would be responsible for an accident in the workplace due to a faulty design? (Construction/Electrical)?

Jay M asked:

This is a very strange one, but yet it deeply concerns me. I have an enormous amount of worry of this, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully someone has good knowledge about this subject to ease my mind.

My line of work is in Electrical Contracting. I am new in this business area so my knowledge is very limited. I was employed to draw out schematical drawings on a Computer-Aided-Design software and send them out to customers of various companies. I was brought into the company because no-one previously employed does it. I have learned to use the software program over time, yet still haven’t quite yet obtained the knowledge of what I have been drawing. All I have to go on, is the hand drawn designs that are given to me, so I can convert to an electronic form.

Remembering I am in the electrical industry, here is the problem…if a customer/client of a past job has a nasty accident directly due to a bad design that we have made, potentially could I the ‘drawer’ of the designs get prosecuted or the guy who passes the original hand drawn designs onto me get prosecuted? aka the ‘designer’. Or would the company ‘as a whole’ get done?

Thankyou.

Is CADD a good field to major in college?

mKsTpN0y asked:

I take Vo-Tech (Vocational Technical) school and my class is CADD (Computer Aided Drafting Design). I’m a junior and for my senior year, I’m going to take architecture. I’m thinking about going to college for architecture but what I want to know is, If I take architecture, will CADD be apart of it? I mean, are they two separate majors because I’m searching for colleges and I don’t want to pick the wrong major. Can you please tell me if CADD is a good field to major in?
